A Winter’s Tale – My Journey through Siberia
a travel video by Dennis Schmelz
Meeting the nomads in the Mongolian desert, hovering across the world's biggest and deepest frozen lake, walking the in the streets of Buryatia at -30 degrees Celsius, flying through the steam of the almost frozen Angara river or joining a traditional sleigh ride through the Russian Taiga. All of this made me feel like I was looking into a fairyland which had never existed anywhere apart from dreams. What a miracle! Siberia is something really extraordinary and fascinating.
Our stops: Omsk - Krasnoyarsk - Irkutsk - Listvyanka (Lake Baikal) - Ulan-Ude - Tarbagata - Ulan Bator and the Mongolian countryside.
The lyrics in the video are based on the opera "The Snow Maiden" from Nikolai Rimsky‐Korsakov and couldn't fit better to my images.

Russia in a Nutshell
As a result of being the largest country on earth, the sun never really sets in Russia: as the night falls in the imperial St. Petersburg, it’s already rising at the Asian peninsula of Kamchatka. If in past times the country had intimidated more than a few outsiders with its tough and serious exterior, today it is welcoming travellers completely. Within Russian borders, visitors will come into contact with one of the world’s most fascinating nations, a land rich in history, architecture and dramatic landscapes such as the stunning Lake Baikal and surprisingly beautiful Lena Pillars. Its capital, Moscow, is today just as electrifying as a cosmopolitan metropolis can be.
